Server connectivity

I know you guys are hearing this for the 1000th time. I have been reading the eqemulator forums and this one - I played 1999 on my old PC and just getting back. I've done just about everything i can think of but when I log into the home screen, it says "Logging into server. Please Wait." and STAYS THERE. I don't know what else to do at this point and could really use some help.

I don't know much about computers. But do you have the min required hardware to run everquest? Did you install the game correctly (followed guide). Do you have the right software to run everquest like the correct direct x?

yes I did all of that - everything is current. It just says "logging into server, please wait." and hangs there, like it is having a connectivity problem. The eqhost.txt file is correct, I dont know what else to do.
