They aren't really a tool that makes you into a soloer, but they do give you enough of a force multiplier to pull off fights that you couldn't handle without poisons.

You might be able to sneak over to the skeletal warlord who is wielding a tstaff, but you know that he and his skeletal buddy would kill you before you could drop the warlord. You MIGHT be able to kill him solo if you use locustlure to take less damage, but who knows if it is going to proc right away or not at all? A 50% slow poison is going to land more often than not and could be the tipping factor in you killing the warlord and looting the staff or not.

Can do similar things with the snare poisons and intimidation.

If you have the pp to spare, you can actually get pretty significant DPS boosts in any given fight by leading off with one of the dd or dot poisons.

Stat poisons? Eh, who knows exactly how much they help.

They are hard enough to gather the mats for and/or expensive enough that you aren't going to be putting a poison on your weapon on a regular basis in an xp group. And they aren't powerful enough that even a rich person who plays 24/7 is going to go try to solo their rogue to 60 just because they have an unlimited supply of poisons. But they have a cool factor imo, and they CAN be very useful in the right situations.
