But I've always liked monsters to do things that made sense; like hit the most vulnerable person. But if monsters were too smart it'd be a lot harder to kill them, so... But honest I'd like to see some games put more pressure on us; aka smart monsters. I think it'd be better if only the smart(er) monsters did it or the bosses. Otherwise, it could get a bit tedious. On hte other hand, I don't expect monsters to hand me a kill. In fact, if I get handed a kill it's the surest sign I'll lose interest in the game. But the line between a monster that makes combat annoying and a monster that makes it challenging is perhaps fuzzy. A monster shouldn't always attack the most vulnerable person or make the smartest choice. If they do then that gives players no leeway. But if a monster is so dumb that they just stand there limp and let you kill them and never display even the slightest hint of smartness then, to me anyway, it's very unexciting.
