I have never used this ducking to stop casting nonsense. If I hit the wrong spell I move so it doesn't resolve but that's about it. Just don't click the wrong shit and your good.
For clerics its pretty useful. Sometimes you can't sit immediately, for aggro reasons, but you also can't have a spell (CH) you just interrupted continue casting, because you might need to immediately cast it again or cast another spell (fast heal). And of course moving doesn't always interrupt so it might hit and waste mana anyway.

I never had a gaining agro issue hitting ctrl+s twice to do a quick sit/stand.
not sure why everybody keeps complaining about duck casting.
If anything you can have all a hotkey set to sit and then immediately cast a spell which would actually be quicker then canceling a spell with duck...

I just tried sitting while casting. All I get is "You can't use that command right now" message.

You have to click the sit button on the actions bar manually. On blue it just sits you down and cancels your spellcast. On red you can sit during casts to get med ticks then stand back up in time for the spell to finish though.

never realized this. how did it work during classic? i'd always assumed that if you sat during a spell cast (except for bard) that your spell was interrupted.

also never realized that clicking the built in button in the UI for anything worked any differently than the text command (i.e. clicking sit button vs. typing /sit). are there any other examples of this sort of difference?

Hot keys when you're casting don't work unless you click the button.

Unless I'm doing it wrong it is not possible to send your pet in to attack while casting without clicking it.

I'm not sure how it worked in classic.

You'll notice there's a number of different things you can do with clicks or typed commands that won't work with hotkeys depending on what you're doing. Usually it's targetting stuff. You can't click the mouse on a target or use F keys to change NPC or PC targets while in mid cast (although I think you can while doing bardsongs), but you can click on your UI to get a target change to self or a groupmember. I can't think of too many examples off the top of my head... targetting is the big one, and the one yum said.
