Those are the actual timeline dates this server has followed. They are not arbitrary. Pure speculation? You mean, just pulling an idea out of one's ass? No, those dates indicate a trend, approach, and pace. The past does not necessarily predict the future, but it does allow for statements of likelihood. Let me add some more strength to my "pure speculation". This is a free server run by eq enthusiasts. A second server would require additional csr -- more volunteer hours. Monitoring two servers -- especially a *new* server -- would require considerable manpower resources for it to be done up to p99's standards. People forget this is a hobbyist server. It runs on the team's spare time, volunteered. There is no incentive for a second server, except as another stage of the experiment. They have no corporate deadlines to meet, no paying customers to try to squeeze dollars from, nothing except what they find fun. Early 2018. Count on it.

![]() P99 should have 2 or 3 blue servers, one of them that automatically wipes every 6 months.

![]() My logic is simply this. On a new server, it's all fresh people, fresh levelers. The world quickly spaces itself out into casuals, semi-casuals, semi-serious, and hardcores. I myself float between those categories. But the one thing that is not set on a fresh server is an economy.
Everyone needs to farm plat. Everyone needs to farm items. Everyone starts at zero. There are no established guilds with power. There are no established cliques of campers. It's all new. All these things WILL eventually present themselves, but I want to be part of the community before that happens, because if I come after it happens, after everything is established and set in pixel stone, then I end up playing catchup with the group of friends and family that want to play with me. Just my two cents. And yes, I'd play a P99 server that wipes every six months, IF you could transfer the characters off to an established server when the wipe was coming. It would be a great thing for a new set of players. It'd be a separate economy, a separate environment for them to grow and level and play in before walking onto an established server.

The younger years of P99 involved much more of a learning curve in terms of development and patching for the dev team, and it took years for it to grow to the size and popularity it is now. Furthermore, the open desire for a new server from the playerbase is greater than ever, judging by the many new server request threads, such as this one. Just about everyone I've spoken to, or read the opinions of, agrees that Kunark era lasted much longer than it should have, and I imagine the limited P99 dev team were working hard for a very long time to get Velious ready. Now that Velious development is completed, (it would have released this week if not for Daybreak's announcement), the dev team has much more time to spend on other endeavors for P99. The two main endeavors that Nilbog mentioned were a new recycling blue server, and unique P99 content in-line with Velious era balance and lore. One has to assume that the latter of these will come much further down the line into Velious thereby allowing players to fully experience Velious. The latter of these also involves extensive design and development work to create new quality content, while adding a new blue server with a special timeline is trivial by comparison. At the same time Nilbog made these announcements, Rogean stated that the current server infrastructure is set up in preparation for expansion. I would not presume to know when either of these might happen, but I would put my money on much, much earlier than 2018. I would also add that there is incentive for the dev team to progress P99, especially now with an official acceptance from Daybreak. This incentive may not be directly monetary, but successful experience developing and maintaining the largest classic EverQuest server is impressive and shows their practical skill and dedication to the cause, to say the least.

![]() why do you all need a fresh server? It always a little confusing to me when people asking for one.
A new server become flooded with plat really quidkly. From what i remember of live within 2 weeks or less people will be killing Naggy / Vox . Within a Month most of the good classic camps are perm camped if not earlier. It is a perception problem from my point of view: People /player view a fresh as wonderful and fesh BUT it is only that for a very very very short period of time. You can form a a small group or guild to play how a new server feels (Almost) Just stick to Original EQ content and gear. YOU can play this way here on P1999. It is not easy due to high amount of good gear from kunark available for cheap. IT a matter of how dedicated you are to this play style. Anyhow my 2 cents.

![]() Play off peak with a prefab group for a 'fresher' feel.
I hate to say it, but maybe even consider red.
