Strengthen Death Duration?

Funny (not funny) story about this spell...

You get it from Bubar(??) erudite merchant near Shady Swashbuckler in EC tunnel... as a dark elf he would not talk to me... so I had /ooc asked someone to buy me the spell for a tip. Ended up having 2 people buy the spell at the same time, so I had to buy both of them... spent 100pp for 2 copies of this one... Doh! :/

More than the mana it's the spell gem...

Look at it this way, when used on the top pet (the level 58 pet) Strengthen Death will do similar damage per minute as Boil Blood, but for a fraction of the mana expended. The spell is usually not worth using right away because the level 30 and (mostly) 39 pets are so bad. Don't forget you have the spell later on once the pets improve.

I can usually spare the spell gem in a solo situation where I'll use the spell. I can't spare it in groups, but in a group you should have someone else to haste the pet, if it's even out.

I know, and I love the pet, but it parses at 1/5 of my dps on blue mob, this buff takes on spell gem and two ticks of meditation. The two added swing takes similar time... I just don't use it because of the hassle to free a spell gem and time the recast, the impact is low and if you factor the time needed for that mana it's becoming really low...

What are you using when solo? Normally if I'm by myself I'll have about 4 required slots, and four that are more situational.

A pet doing 1/5 of your dps will absolutely do more than "low impact" dmg over the course of the duration of this buff than you would have by losing 2-3 ticks worth of damage to med for the mana for this. And this number will exponentially increase the longer you are xping.

Pet doing 20% of your dps as a melee tank class is a yuuuuge amount of your dmg output. That, if parsed correctly, would warrant this spell taking a spell gem for any foreseeable reason, seeing as how it’s a 2% mana commitment every few minutes.
