![]() As a wizard, I would say to go druid. I've played a shaman, which has a lot of similarities to a druid and is the reason that I went wiz instead of dru. I don't regret my decision, but if I didn't have a shm, I would definitely go dru. Wizards are just not terribly interesting to play, and druids get a lot more cool stuff (heals, regen, damage shield, sow, among other things mentioned).

![]() I remember someone sayign recently that wizards are great to play half-braindead in groups. Take that for what it's worth.

![]() If you intend to play casually with no view on end level raiding, I'd say go for a druid 110% for the following reasons (in no particular order):
- You can nuke, not as good as a wiz but you can still relatively effectively) - You can charm animals (very effective solo method depending on the zone you decide to go to) - You have some DoTs which gives you another way to solo (very good when shit hits the fan to slow things down: root the mobs and DoT them to death) - SoW - Heal - Very nice buffs (no self only) - Damage shield are some of the most effective damage dealing spells - Track (c'mon, track!!!): allows you to dibs any target you want - Hide (very cool if you go afk, although a Dark Elf wiz will have it too) - Sneak (if you are a hobbit) - Better port location (for me at least), unless you want to raid where wizards are the only one you can get you to PoFear (or was it PoHate?) and PoSky - You can be a hobbit and are therefore allowed 5 meals a day with no one having the right to tell you anything about balanced diet or how fat you might become. Forage is a nice support feature for that. The edge a wiz has on a druid are the better damage/mana ratio of his spells, a bigger variety of nuke spell lines (which you won't need as a casual druid) and his lure line of spells which effectively allow him to blow raid targets up (this is a massively humonguously huge big plus... if you want to raid and be a nuker during raids). When I started here, I decided to go druid as I wanted to rediscover Norrath at my own pace. I haven't regretted a single second the freedom and possibilities I had with a druid, I seriously don't think they can be matched. I know the day I end up raiding I won't be the most usefull class, but that is if one day I end up in a raid... Hug a tree today man, play a druid. Nagash/Petitpas

![]() As a wizard, you will have some utility as long range DPS on giants and dragons in SOV (raid mobs). In Kunark, you may be desireable for AE groups (if you can ever find one). If you have a budy to cast C 2 on you repeatedly, you will possibly enjoy quadding post 50. Without C, you will sit.. and sit... and sit... and sit. Then get up and nuke. And sit. Sometimes you will port. Often you will die.
I have no clue how it is here, but on live, pre-51, wizards had almost as many resists as landings with spells. They just plain sucked until 51, and were limited usefulness on raids until Velious ( with bane spells that made their DPS a minimal addition to rogue DPS on the big raid mobs, if the raid could position them properly for BS). Druids? I like playing a druid. It's a utility class: not great at anything, but able to do almost anything.

![]() Wizards are arguably the worst class in P99 right now. If you roll one at this point, you're either a masochist or plain bad.
With melee damage being the way that it is, with charms being the way that they are and with a plethora of other things, wizards are currently unable to fulfill their primary role to any reasonable degree: DPS. As of right now, almost every melee will out DPS you, almost every class that can charm will out DPS you. Draughts are too resistable, lures are mana inefficient for non-bosses and rains are broken. Quad kiting is viable, but honestly, if you want to solo, roll something else... The one saving grace are PBAEs, but good luck finding the enchanters willing to sacrifice normal group exp/loots in order to group with a bunch of shitty wizards and AE stuff. As far as the druid comparison goes: Druid charm is currently broken to the point where you can pretty much permanently keep a charmed pet. Druids can do everything that a wizard can do and then some - with the exception of lures. Druids can port, sow, have damage shield, heal, regen, buff... lol. Yeah, don't roll a wizard until damage is fixed.

![]() I can't stand grouping with wizards. Fuckers sit on their asses and toss out maybe 1 nuke every other pull. It's not their fault though, the rate at which xp groups pull leaves Wizards oom in about 7 or 8 pulls if they nuke every pull.
I still hate them regardless.

![]() My wizard Kriven gets a shitty time of it in terms of finding groups. Usually only accepted if an existing group is crying for 2+ dps or if I start a group myself. Bad times indeed!
Went crying back to my much more in demand SK, problem solved. Would never roll a druid, far too many around! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

![]() Wizards at this game stage are like half-baked mage.
Their nukes are better, but not by much to substitute for the lost of a pet Wizard will get improvement later on, but its a long wait.

Wizards are all powerful when it comes to Nukes....they are squishy though...I am a lvl 44 druid....I find the class to be pleasurable...not only can I port wherever I am but I can heal, buff and melee (with the right equipment)....I find it gratifying to be able to be a cleric/melee/caster.. druids are very fun to play...I've never found a problem finding a group cause someone always needs a healer/buffer/kiter/dotter/nuker.....being able to run fast and slow enemies are a plus...Bards own the speed but we have it as well...just a little fyi on the druid.....very very fun class
