Default Wizard vs. Druid?

Ok, so i'm trying to start up a char here but i'm torn between the two classes listed in the title.

Druid vs. Wizard

I've already decided i'd like to port, because I get tired of riding boats, running around, or just otherwise bumming ports. Additionally, I just think porting everywhere sounds really fun. Unfortunately i'm not completely sure how each of their roles pertain to classic EQ.

A little about myself: I'm one of those guys that does like to have some solo ability, but I was always a solo class in classic, and i'd like to do a bit of grouping with whichever character I pick. I'll likely never raid or be serious at end game, but I want the option of grouping as I level (as much as I can). While leaving myself the option of soloing when the time calls for it.

So which of the two are

-Most groupable
-Most enjoyable and why (subjective, I know)
-Best soloer

Basically I just want to hear opinions to help me make up my mind! I'd love to hear what you have to say!

Thanks in advance!

All three Q's are Wizards.

Druids got nerfed hard. There is no reason to level up another one after the nerfs.

Wizzies way more useful.

As a druid, I'd recommend a wizard

Well....that's not what I expected at all. From my classic memory, I thought Wizard was low end and Druids were pretty tough. Thanks for the input you two! Still open to more opinions!

I can't speak for druids, but if you want an extremely boring grouping experience late game - chose Wizard. Duoing is great fun, however. And quadding has its moments. You'll also need some kind of medication in order to reach 29 while retaining your sanity. And even then you'll need a fair amount of gear to be able to quad.

Druids nerfs are only temporary [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
In time of velious druids will get lots of power back - they can solo well, they can kite, they can substitute cleric in casual groups past lev 50, and they can buff decently

Wizards.. well the only thing they will ever do is nuke [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

As a wizard here and on live, all three are druid.

Especially with Sup heal - if not only for chloro and damage shield (which are incredibly efficient - way moreso than wizard nukes) - druids are way more useful for groups. Not for raids - wizards rock there - but druids are far greater than wizards for groups.

Can't answer this for you... but my wild stab in the dark is as follows: both can quad kite, druids are far better at single-target soloing, have built-in sow, animal charm, better port locations...

I don't see how people can think wizards are better soloers than druids. We're virtually equal at quad kiting, and druids are more efficient single-target soloers.

Be a druid if you hate wasting time running around, sow makes a big difference. As a wizard, it will be a long time before you can camp jboots on your own or make the money to buy a MQ if you are just starting out.

Otherwise, what do you like to do in groups? Wizards only nuke and evac really. Druids can nuke (mana inefficient but they can), evac, dot, snare, charm, buff, and heal.

Solo, both classes are good, both can quad kite or root/nuke. Druids can also charm and don't need to buy sow pots or get jboots to kite.

There are more druids than wizards, although both are not usually highly desired in casual groups. I was a druid on live but rerolled wizard here because I just want to blow stuff up.

With the exception of the duration of thorns getting cut, how did druids get nerfed? I missed something here, or maybe it's just not that noticeable level 49+

dot stacking.. basically only 1 dot until lvl 29. Also your dots dont stack with other druid dots. so if there are 2 druids both either nuke or one nukes other dots. Cant dot with both.
