Kind of agree, items from GM items shouldn't be used to make plats but.... Grats to this guy, his net plat worth of 10 pp probably went up 100,000 percent.

Why do you or anyone else, really give a shit what someone else does with their item? Regardless of it's origin.

I'm not sure why I care, maybe just because most MMOs have a policy of not allowing accounts to be traded, and it just does not feel classic whatsoever.

I suppose not only that, but I personally know several people who helped this guy out for nothing because of his extremely apparent newbishness, and I was really surprised to see him running around in high-end gear, after he got sold.

Exactly. These accounts should be getting sold for CASH. That would be classic.

I don't know if there is away around it, since the GMs are trying to reward newbies with cool items, but instead they just turn around and sell them.
The GMs give this noob a cool item. He may enjoy having this item, in which case he will have fun playing with it. If he does not want the item, or would rather have something else, he sells his character, and uses the plat to buy items which he wants. Now the noob is happy, and whoever bought the character is happy.

Each to his own. We don't tell your grandmother what to do with her winnings from Wheel of Fortune.
