I kinda feel sorry for this guy to be honest. How bitter does someone need to be to compile a list of this many names and post it on the forums hoping to get them changed?

Posted by a server guide, the OP is just pointing out a few people who he "feels" violated the naming policy. Leave it to the guides/gm's/developers to determine if the names should be changed.

It is not up to you to determine if the names are ok, so stfu.

You would have to add Siri to that list since it is a trademarked name. SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. (SIRI)
Sirius is the trademarked name, SIRI is the stock symbol. Many stock symbols appear as common words, for example John Deers symbol is "DEER", hardly a word that could be trademarked.

that was just an example, how about http://siri.com/. Anything would really work for a eq live gm, they are not picky.

One of my favorite tanks on live was Sheeron Collision. Say him through PoP, LDoN, GoD. He never had an issue with his name.

My main on Live was Sslipknot Oppressor, Ikky warrior for 67 levels. Also used Superloco Spineripper, Ikky SK and Soulsick Damentia, Ikky Necro, Spiritwalkr, Ikky shaman.
None had an issue with naming policy.
The only times I got hammered for my names were...

Afrodeesiak- Erudite Wizzy (Drew to much attention to myself killing people in the Field of Bone, rapping in ooc while I was killing them and screaming about how they stole all the chicken from Erudin and they would pay with their lives until I got the chicken back for the sake of Erudin's economy)

Dragnet- Ikky SK (My friends and I made a bunch of lowbie chars with cop style names and would run around newbie area of Field of Bone attacking people saying, we got a 187 in progress and book em' Dan-O.)

Frankly, like others have said, there are some names on the list that would pass muster on some of the old live servers and some that would not. There are a very few that I think almost any reasonable person would object to, but the vast majority would have a variety of opinions on them.

I guess if the OPs intent was to help the GMs find names of ppl that need a renaming then he is trying to be helpful...if, on the other hand, he is trying to push his opinions as to what is reasonable then he needs to piss off.

I think the community votes with its behavior when it comes time for "Shitster" or "Ballsucker" to apply to a guild. I wouldn't even look at these guys for my old raiding guild past their name on their app post.

But that is a community standard, not something the game needs to necessarily address with forced name changes.

^ For what it's worth, I agree that there are several tiers of offensiveness here. Even though I agree that many of the names on the OP's list are guilty of "breaking immersion", I'm not personally one that gets upset about it. But if the OP does get get upset about it, that's his right and his business.

The tier of offensiveness I do object to, and will continue to speak out against, are names like the ones you mentioned. Just yesterday a toon named "Buttnugget" joined my orc2 group. I don't feel like looking at that name for hours or dealing with a person who would choose that name, I don't care how good a player they are. If that makes me uptight, controlling, or whatever label some of you want to apply, so be it. It's like I said in another thread — population is starting to explode on P99 and we're at a crossroads; we can either let the kiddies run rampant with disgusting names or we can set a firm policy now. Some of you act like it's a power-trip because we want to apply standards, and I say baloney.
