I think you're using "terrorism" correctly but I think you've got a real flaw in your thinking:

Why do you assume the perpetrator is a foreign terrorist group or state?

Yesterday's bombings seem much more likely to have been carried out by one of us.
I agree. As sad as it may sound, I believe if it was a foreign attack that many more people would have died. This seems like an amateur attack.

Remember "Shock and awe"?

The only difference between a terrorist and a freedom fighter is the former takes their fight to another land's soil. Last I checked the Middle East was not U.S. soil.

I'm starting (ok starting was a while ago) to get sick of this "war on terror" and "fighting for freedom" bullshit that keeps getting spewed around the media and from our politicians. It's a fucking war against our enemies, that's all it is, if you man up and admit it that's all the justification that you need for the bulk of the population to fall in line, anything beyond that is reaching and fear mongering.

Good point. I suppose something I am trying to get across is, in the world bombings with tragic death tolls (30 vs 2) are too common of an occurrence. Unfortunately, Americans are so well insulated from the effects of our "we're bigger than you so if you screw with us we'll just bomb you into oblivion" mentality that we just rush off to war anytime we feel like it. Yesterday was a reminder of the reality that so many people have been living under- sometimes its even because of us. Regardless of where it came from, and as bad as it sounds, I hope this event puts a bad taste in our mouths when we hear the next story of how the United States killed more civilians.

Yeah, the US is the only one that kills innocents. Stupid argument, every country does crazy shit under the radar.

Disgusting.

Go get your parents and show them what you're posting so they can ground you.

I am an adult, thank you.

I don't mind if you're upset at me. I just hope that you are now willing to stick up for innocent lives, even if they reside internationally.

Don't get me wrong. When we catch the party responsible, I want justice. However, let's do it the right way.

Then act as one and recognize that each tragedy stands on its own and that twisting one massacre to suit the needs or your argument is insidious and obscene.

Do you need your family to die this evening for you to be more empathetic toward the victims of the marathon bombing? Is it gross for me to even suggest it? Are you a full-fledged adult or have you suffered a head injury or some defect at birth, maybe?

I do empathize for the victims of the Boston massacre. I do want justice for what happened. But I am calling injustice as I see it.

It would mean more if you did it every day, then--and not only when you can exploit the totally unrelated tragedy du jour.

As much as you try to separate these issues, they are related. Sorry this upset you. It upset me too. It upsets me that we are still losing American lives to an unjust war (if there is such a thing). It upsets me we've taken so many innocent peoples lives in the process. . I also see the growing violence in our country as a logical conclusion of our foreign policy.
