Why have peoples helpful attitudes gone to shit lately? The forums are full of vile spite lately, in EVERY section.

Cheer up people. Need a hug?

Yeah I honestly don't see the point in the harsh responses to the new guy asking how the end game is on this server. A lot of people complain about it so sometimes you wonder what it's going to be like once you are 50 as you are leveling up. I probably wouldn't take my free time to make the post.. but like now I'm at work and looking for some time to kill.

I decided I don't care what it is like and will be leveling to 50 either way but I admit that I'm not as excited to hit 50 after hearing all the hot spots are camped 100% of the time and certain guilds horde it to themselves. It's not like I expect the higher end guilds to act any different, its just how it is on classic, not much space at the end game for all the level 50's.

I sort of agree with Loke, although I might not be so harsh. Lots of folks sort of have this toe in the water attitude. "What class should I play. Am I going to enjoy this? Is 20 hours enough time to play each week? Am I going to get carpal tunnel? I prefer walking backwards instead of forward, will that work here on P99? If a halfling druid falls in the forest, does it make a sound?" Seriously, just play and have fun.

The forums are like maybe 25% of what's actually happening on the server. The most outspoken people are complaining about things, the concentration of negative energy seems to dwell here.
People are rational. They want to optimize their investment (time played) to maximize return (fun). This guy simply wanted to know whether investing his time (leveling a character/gearing him) is worth the fun/value that the game will deliver or whether the end-game is so uber-competitive that he will just lose interest after a while. These types of questions go hand in hand with people asking about xp bonus/penalty, class/race selection, etc, because people want to maximize their play-time while also ensuring a good long term investment.

Example: People ask whether they should play a druid because druids are overabundant because they want to see if the amount of druids on the sever inhibits new-entry into the class. It's rational. Why play a druid if there is no long-term value in terms of getting into raid guilds or groups.

You may laugh hysterically at this analysis but the economic decision underlies all choices. It just so happens that many people see maximization as faster leveling, easy farming, groupability, soloability, and raid potential, with unique class/race as a small component.

The guy asked for something no one other than him would be able to find the answer to.
One individual cannot measure the fun/value another person will experience.

It is inherently far more subjective than a simple question on race/exp penalty, or class/race selection.

OP posts some valid questions, entitled to his opinion. Loke didn't like it, responds how he sees fit because the subject seems repetitive to him and it annoys him, then you have the typical sackriders out in full force. Maybe someone should make a thread about that. Er, wait, there already is one..

Their solo ability goes up. I personally know enchanters who solo some of the best paying and most pist camps in the game........

This does make me chuckle. It's a 10 year old game. We're ALL wasting time no matter what we do. This is like being obsessed about what color MC Hammer pants you should wear. (solid gold is obviously the answer)
