Good post about how melee damage was on classic vs. p99. Recently had some posts in it about the current state of melee (most recent patch). To summarize: In classic melee had what was refered to as a 'magic number' which was the number you would hit for the most often while attacking an opponent. This number would comprise about 20% of all melee attacks against this target, with minimum damage (dmg bonus+1) being the next most frequently seen number at like 10% or so. The rest of your melee attacks would fall somewhere between your minimum damage and your maximum damage. Prior to the last patch, P99 used a radically different algorithm. Resulting in the majority of melee hits being for maximum damage, with the next highest % being for minimum damage (but still drastically less common then max damage hits). It also appears that min dmg was being miscalculated and was higher than it should have been. Melee damage was astronomically overpowered on P99 in the past compared to how it should have been.
