It's classic - prevented deaths from DOTs when you zoned.

That can't be an intended function???? Having someone lose all their buffs when they don't die..... Surely that's a mistake or a failure in coding...
It may not have been original intent of the EQ devs, but it is how it worked back in the day, which is why it is replicated here.

The game would load your character naked, then populate your items after zoning. If you zoned with less hp than what your items provided, you would be dead since you essentially had negative hp. Instead of this outcome, the game instead strips your buffs and loads you fresh.

It was eventually removed beyond the server's proposed timeline due to mudflation of gear adding so many HPs that you could zone at 40-50% hp and get your buffs stripped.

Default Zoning into Cabilis while over weight - buffs stripped

I received a Spirit of Wolf and a Strength Buff from a level 10 Shaman before entering East Cabilis. Once zoned in, the buffs were gone. We repeated the process and it happened again.

The only oddity to my character's status is that I am overweight 208/86.

List all of your equipment with +HP.

Total up the +HP total. IE wearing 2 of the 55HP earrings would be +110HP.

Check if when you're zoning you are zoning with less HP than the above value. If you are, this is working as intended. The game does it because it loads your character before your gear. When it does this, it loads you, finds you have less HP than you character does without that HP gear, considers you as dead person and strips all your buffs.

It worked like this in EQ until around 2003.

Thanks for the reply and explanation. I will check the numbers later.

Though this doesn't happen on all zones, just East Cabilis so far. I also don't believe I fully understand what you are saying.

If you zone with less current HP than you have +HP (combined across all slots) in gear, you will lose your buffs and debuffs when zoning.

IE if you are only equipping two 55HP rings, your total +HP from gear is +110. If you happen to zone with between 1-109 HP, you will lose your buffs.

Figure out what your number is with current gear and try to not zone if you are under that number and want to keep your buffs.

Default Low HP zoning not stripping buffs/hp with right circumstance

Happened by accident, wasn't sure how or why. Normally you lose all your buffs and are basically dead or something. This happened to me today, I was finally able to re create it 2 out of 10 times after figuring out what happened. Not sure if this is red specific, or both servers since I don't play blue I don't know if the same mechanic is in.

The only time you lose buffs is if you zone with less HP than you have in raw HP gear. It looks like you did this in the screenshots provided. May be something weird with zoning while unconscious though?

But if you're in full cloth, you can zone with 1 hitpoint and keep your buffs because you have no HP gear.

Default Enchanter Zoning losing buffs

Hi. I am no good at posting bug reports, but i have a lvl 15 enchanter alt i mess around on, and recently as in last month or so, i've seen when i zone on her, she is at 45-60 % hp and it wiped all my buffs.

I know normally this is for 25% hp or under it occurs, but i'm certain as i'm testing it it is wiping out buffs when im 45% and 50% and 60+ %.

Is this a new bug? Can anyone else verify this by posting your lvl of enchanter and buffs wiped out?

It needs to be said i am playing in Antonica specifically NRO oasis SRO HH keep and pass, EC, WFP , WC, NFP, Ekarana, Lavastorm, Najena. Happened in those zones that i have caught.
