If there turn comes up and they're not online, they lose their place and are skipped.

I told people in WL that whoever logs on first gets the camp. Shit went nuts.... People lost their heads for sure and had to be reassured that the list would stay rofl.

Whoever wants it the most will stay there and wait patiently (responding to a message within a minute or so if its their turn), not play an alt or log out entirely and expect an update 3-4 hours later.
