After my time in the icy lands of Velious....I was ready for somewhere warmer! So left to visit the halflings in Rivervale. To count all my treasure, and also talk to the Deep Pockets guild ....if anyone had some ideas of where to find treasure, I bet it would be them!!
Turned out I had collected almost 360 platinum of treasure so far! Which, according to my math, is about 1 percent of the million platinum I needed! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] After talking with the leaders of the Deep Pockets (which, I learnt was just their last names....not representative of the deepness of their pockets)....they told me that there were light creatures out in the planes of Karana I could hunt for lots of treasure! That was good enough for me! So I booked passage on the next caravan headed there!! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] After days of travel, we finally arrived! It was time to get richer!!!! But.....as it turns out....hunting wisps is hard work. I had made it to level 15 at least, and gotten a few of those valuable light stones....but still, I was starting to think there had to be a better place to get treasure than this.... As I was thinking at the guard tower....I noticed the guards seemed almost in a daze from standing in the sun all day..... [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Carefully I snuck behind them...and rummaged around in their pockets....not really expecting much, but copper is copper! As I checked his other pocket, I loosened the strap on his shield to make room....and....it started to fall! Using my lightning quick gnome reflexes, I caught it before he noticed.... Wait....this was even better than copper!! Shields had to be worth lots!! And it wasn't like I was stealing or anything. The shield had almost fallen on the ground and almost gotten lost!! And lost things are fair game to gnomes who find them. So, really, if you think about it, I was doing these guards a favor by finding their shields before they got lost! Log in or Register.] But....there weren't too many guards around....so after being helpful and finding both of the guards shields...I went back to looking around for some more. And that is when I saw it....a hill giant!!! Almost like the velious giants, but these were fatter! And maybe even richer!! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] So, I quietly followed it....climbing up its leg and rummaging in its pockets....and sure enough, there were handfuls of gold inside!!!! First I pulled out 30 pieces....then 15 pieces....then 7 pieces....this giant was rich!!! I felt like a money vampire!!! Who needs lifetap when you have moneytap? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] But....as I climbed down from the giant....suddenly he turned around!! Having noticed his pockets were much lighter!!! "You can't prove noffin!!!!" I shouted as he ran after me!! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] I had to think fast! Giants were nothing to mess around with !! If he caught me, I would be mooshed!! That's when I remembered the guards! Surely they could help!!! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] The two guards and the giant battled....and it was close!! But it seemed they had lost their shields somehow! Making it harder for them to defend against the giant!! And...in the end....the giant defeated them both! Then, he saw me nearby watching....and resumed his chase. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] I could see the giant was hurt though....very hurt. Hummm, being level 15 I wasn't strong enough to face the giant face to face....but I had another idea! I began throwing daggers at him! I always keep a backpack full for emergencies! Little by little my daggers started to wear him down. He couldn't catch me, I was too fast! Finally, he surrendered and began to run away. But doesn't he know you should never run away from a sneaksy gnome?! The advantage was mine! I followed after him and poked him! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] In the end....I had done it!! I had defeated the giant!! Alone!! It seems hill giants are no match for level 15 gnomes! And, it turned out, he had been keeping more than just piles of gold....he also had a pile of platinum kept in a secret pocket!! | ||
