I came to EQ Classic simply because I like playing EQ. I have little/no interest in raiding (I raid 4 nights a week in WoW currently), but absolutely love the challenging group content in EQ.

My worry is that as I level, my enjoyment will lessen considerably. Essentially all I see on the forums is that high-end content is permanently camped, raid bosses are fought over constantly (something that rarely, if ever, happened on my EQ server back in the day- we had a serverwide raid calendar), people refuse to group with hybrids or people with racial xp penalties, etc.

..snip

Well the raid content has always been contested up to a point in EQ. Folks do Vox/Naggy, expension comes out.... the top dog move to the new raid content and it "SHOULD, Somewhat anyway" clear the lower level content to lesser guilds. Anyone who raided before knows that. Will it changes here? Probably not by a whole lot. It probably DID happen on your server too back in the days, at least it happened on mine. VT, Dragons, Giants, fire Potime etc etc... it is often contested and frankly this is what made the game partly fun.

If you've played and raided before, this is something you should know.

People are rational. They want to optimize their investment (time played) to maximize return (fun). This guy simply wanted to know whether investing his time (leveling a character/gearing him) is worth the fun/value that the game will deliver or whether the end-game is so uber-competitive that he will just lose interest after a while.

You may laugh hysterically at this analysis but the economic decision underlies all choices.
I play P1999, so I'm a virgin, but if I WERE to have sex I would definitely ask my lady friend every detail about her openness to anal, appreciation of tentacle rape fantasies, and whether System of a Down turns her on PREFERABLY on the first date so as not to waste my investment (time wooing) only to be disappointed when my return (bukkake) ends up being a solo gig.

Don't let these Hatars hate on your 'nomics brah.

If you don't want to be competitive you probably won't be able to raid in old style EQ. Still a few raids once in a while and a lot of interesting single group content makes EQ more than worth the time investment.

Are people really complaining about negativity in a flames forum?
