Stockton Springs / Belfast area
For such a small town it's pretty surprising how there are a few really great places to eat in Belfast.

During the summer i'm living it up just because i know winter is coming. We got lucky last year around here and only had like 2 snow storms and one was in october so knew this year was gonna suck but damn is it ever. had about 6 storms already and these cold streaks suck.

Yeah I love the area. The only problem is that the bank sustains it.

The town wasn't much more than a slum before MBNA/Bank of America rolled in, and will return to that state when the bank leaves. its the only major source of jobs in the area.

Now to the food:

Alexis is a great little pizza joint on a corner downtown.

Lot of great seafood places down on the harbor.

If you havnt been to Rollies downtown its a MUST. That is my normal hangout as well as most of the locals. Just a hole in the wall diner/pub. not much room. but the best you will find in the area.

Ming's is great on Searsport Avenue for Chinese. there is also a really good thai food place on the same road but I don't eat there due to nut allergies. Angler's is another great seafood place on that road

And then for those who just care about getting drunk and stupid we have "The Lookout" down on the harbor. The locals call it "The Blackout"

I didn't think that was the argument anyone was having. The argument was that we have "no mountains to enjoy all that winter". That's very much false, skiing is huge in parts of NH/VT and even maine on the Green/white mountains.

I didn't provide a picture of McKinley btw, those are all of Washington/the presidential range in NH.

An interesting side conversation is discussing how "big" mountains are. Of course the mountains on the east have a typically lower elevation than those of the rockies due to the east being closer to sea level (also a fascinating topic if you're ever interested in figuring out exactly how that is determined) however Mt. Washington's Prominance is still the 59th highest in the US, and sans Hawaii/Alaska it is the 25th most prominent: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._United_States

That said, on a global scale McKinley is the only one that is really significant: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._by_prominence

Hurray for both winter and mountains, a few of my favorite things!

Edit: Added US Prominance ranking for only the continental US because I got curious and thought you may be too [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
Interesting reads sir! Thanks for the links!
