Bump for quality thread - I got my microphone in this week - been fiddling around with some recordings. I should be able to put a few works together soon. Have some good guitar tracks laid down already for Wish You Were Here. Soon as my GF leaves the house when I have some free time I will *attempt* to do some vocals. I dont really want to explain to her why i am singing parody songs about P99, so her being gone is mandatory.

I found a free recording program called "audacity" that is pretty good...and its free. PLus this Yeti mic is better than I could have ever imagined.

Audacity is decent, but Audition or Pro Tools is where it's at. I use Audacity because I'm cheap, but if I wasn't, I'd use one of the latter.

Yeti isn't bad for a starter mic. I like Sonar lately but I do a bunch of midi and software instruments. There are tons of used I/O's on craigslist these days. I'm using a $40 Tascam FW-1804 that works fine, it's just old!

Pro Tools may not be the best choice for a casual.
