I didn't see necro mentioned until now. As a necro you can invis and invis undead. You are pretty safe almost everywhere since you have that nice feign death spell. Necro is one of the top soloing classes and can work very nice in a group as well.
Enchanter is a power house of course, but as a newbie you will die sooo often, probably hating the game pretty soon. Enchanter is a pro class, wouldn't recommend for a starter.
Druid is pretty nice as well. While you are not as safe as a necro and lack invis to undead, traveling is way easier and faster. And druids can solo just fine.
