Also what's a good group-required class that's also likely to be a bit underplayed?
I'll respectfully disagree with the above poster involving the druid in vanilla. The druid is a blast to play for leveling up, doing PvP, and running 5 man dungeons as either a tank or a healer (or a crappy dps pre good gear at lvl 60). The issue at lvl 60 is the tremendous drop off in strength due to leather itemization that's available to the druid - at which point PvP is still fun but for PvE it's heal botting for raids only, and the tools resto druids are given are shoddy in comparison to the other healing choices.

To answer your question for group focused class - A warrior that actually collects tanking gear and puts in the practice to become a good tank will always be wanted. Always. For horde side, the Shaman is probably the strongest healer choice with dwarf priest still being the strongest ally pick. For dps, both a skilled rogue and even a not-so-skilled Mage are superb for a group to have, no doubt about it. The mage gets the ez mode Sheep use for CC along with some limited roots, and the Rogue gets the distract / sap / blind package that can pull the teeth out of many encounters. Granted, a Hunter can do the secondary pull / frost trap combo for ez crowd control, but then you're stuck playing a hunter.

You can honestly just pick whatever class you feel like playing, but for PvE what I've stated above is common knowledge for the vanilla game for a reason.

Holy hell. It's like the consumer base has been screaming for a quality MMO experience or something. And all it took was Blizzard eating crow and admitting the direction they took the game from the Candyland Hellfire Peninsula of Burning Crusade on was a mistake.
