NPC Spawn Issue: Banker and merchants look like guards

I was just down in the Neriak Underground doing a little banking when I noticed that the merchants Niz L`Crit and Dunred M`Trik in The Refined Palate, along with the banker, Antian F`lok, were wearing guard armor when they usually look like normal dark elves (from my recollection).

Maybe there is a reasonable explanation for this that I'm unaware of, but I'm posting here in the off chance that there isn't.

I noticed this as well. It's not just them though, a lot of the merchants have altered graphics. In Oggok and Grobb most are holding lutes, and in Neriak the males look like guards and the females have a caster model (robed with crystal sphere and book) instead of their normally empty handed, black studded leather model. Strange things are afoot in Norrath when trolls and ogres start swamp bands. . . banjo battles anyone?

This is caused by a spell that changes their appearance. When it wears off the server selects the default texture instead of the correct one. This is on the list of things to do.
