Question Might there ever be a client upgrade to the greatest game ever?

I play with my son, step-son, and a group of friends and we all absolutely LOVE pre-Luclin Everquest and playing Project 1999. Unfortunately, living in an age where computers and MMOs have advanced significantly, the antiquated client spoils the experience somewhat for some, and, alas, our group is smaller than it would be otherwise.

Does anyone know if there is any effort to provide an updated client for an untouched server that will offer modern gamers who believe pre-Luclin Everquest to be the absolute greatest game ever the best of both worlds?

Not gonna happen here.... hence the forcing off of compass, luclin models, maps, pet buffs, buff timers etc etc. You can manually enable luclin models and upgrade your textures, but thats about it.

Antiquated client? Search "Duxa UI" on the search bar at the top of the page and you'll feel a bit more like you're playing in the modern era.... just a bit. I don't know where I'd be without it.

They used to allow a more modern client (Secrets of Faydwer), but it was phased out due to anti-hax and forcing the classic era things mentioned above, as well as just general low usage. I guarantee the Titanium client (2005) as rickety as it may be is levels advanced from the one used in 1999.

Oh, I meant graphical engine in addition to the UI. I'm not looking for any additional functionality such as the compass and maps (which I prefer to be disabled, as frustrating as that is) and the like. I've just had many people say the graphics are simply too painful even though the game itself is awesome.

I'll look at the Duxa UI as well as possible upgrades to models and textures. I saw some posts regarding such things but it seemed like there was overwhelming resistance to allowing any sort of cosmetic improvement whatsoever, so I figured all that stuff was disabled and grounds for being banned.

Any up-to-date information about what is safe and allowed would be greatly appreciated.

Besides UI and texture upgrade package there's not much else you can do.

Using the luclin models (the upgraded ones) as well as upgraded textures and such is 100% ok and not grounds for being banned or anything like that. You may get poked fun at if u admit to using them, though.

You can find the threads for updated textures and models in the tech discussion board. I'll link the luclin models thread for you because the instructions on how to use them are on page 5 or something.

http://www.project1999.org/forums/sh...t=66382&page=4

that will put you right to it. I personally like certain luclin models more than the classic ones, and vice versa (clasic troll and ogre 10x better imo, iksar luclin model miles ahead of its classic counterpart).

Duxa UI can also be found in tech discussion board, and is a good upgrade if you dont like the look of the current UI.

If you have any other questions feel free to post them in hte tech discussion board and i'd be happy to help
