PSA: So you think you can hang on 99red
Just a heads up to all the new 99red players out there, if you think your going to walk onto 99red and pwn everyone, you are sadly mistaken. The vets that play on this server are pros, the likes of which you have probably not encountered in your past EQ PvP experiences. The best analogy I can think of is this video: Labor Pain Simulation, where the men = 99red n00bs , the women = 99red vets, "early labor" = unrest, and "active labor" = high end dungeons.
Don't get me wrong, 99red is fun as hell, but you best step up your game and expect some pain along the way or the server will chew you up and spit you out. About the author: Currently I do not consider myself a 99red vet (work in progress). I played on VZ back in the day, was undefeated in innumerable duels / arena PvP on Fippy (killing bluebies sure is easy...), and considered myself decent at EQ PvP. However, upon starting on 99red I quickly realized I was a total scrub compared to some of the vets on 99red.

just stay out of zones like unrest were people xp frequently and youll be fine, its the nihilum twinks you gotta worry about really

exp still not good enough to justify playing
if its at 300 then make it 500 and ill play. So will other people! Also remove hybrid penalties I wont pretend to ask you to patch stuff cause I know you wont nor do you give a fuck. | ||

BTW my original post was not intended to discourage anyone from playing on 99red, rather to give n00bs a heads up on what to expect. There are a lot of really skilled EQ players on this server and it is fun as hell to fight with or against them.
