The only reason I ever had Flash of Light memed was for after root breaks. Flash of light cost 12 mana, 1.5 cast time and only last for 2 ticks...enough to reroot without getting hit. This was also before I learned to space and time my roots [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

On the rare occaisions when you actually want to tank, Flash of Light is a great taunt; it costs almost no mana an it really pisses mobs off (or at least it used to on live; haven't tried on P99). However, Shaman very rarely want to tank.

As for the "poor man's fear kiting", it's not really a viable kite method because the mob isn't running away from you, it's running towards you (or at least where it thinks you are), which means all your dots do less damage (2/3?).

Doesn't it also warp then sometimes rendering you unable to even get your hits in?

So when it's not bugged it is actually feared? That's really cool! Fear on!

...the idea was to dot mob, fear it(blind) and let pet bite it from rear. HOwever 4 ticks duration, could get a bit irritating to keep recasting it.

Can be useful on spectres......maybe giants too. Might be good against caster mobs like deepwater gobos....havent tried that.

Might make it viable to actually grp with ranja...for snares.....kinda reverse bow kiting. Maybe some sort of ping pong routine could be worked out?

Might be worth considering a cast at 35% on mobs that flee. Will definitely shorten the fight.

I'm trying this next time I'm on.

They way I always thought FoL worked was that if the target got blinded, it would attack the nearest person (so the tank would stay right on top of the mob). If no one was around, it would run around/flee.

Dunno if that's how it works now, but that's how it seemed to work back when this server opened up.
