Default New, Character?

Hello all, I'm starting here with a friend and would like opinions. What is the current demand of the server(class)? How is the economy, does it support new players(affordable low level gear)?

Thanks all, meet/see ya soon

Save up bone chips, spiderling silks, and hides as they can get you some starter coin. Class-wise, just play what you enjoy!

There is always plenty for sale in EC, and more so even plenty more genuinely good guys willing to help out new players with a little coin or items worth <100pp or so.

Play whatever you want and enjoy EQ like it was 1999 [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Low level gear is frequently just being given away. Play whatever class you like, just remember the hybrid penalty is still in place.

As a newb to P1999 I confirm that players here are very helpful, saw many times higher levels come to lowbie zones to give out buffs and help of all kind. Remember some gear can be quested and looted/crafted unless you want to twink your character of course.

How gear dependant are rangers? Does the server lack healers? Maybe I should make a solo class since I won't know anyone

Groups are forming all the time, can start your own also, don't feel forced into a solo class.

Any melee focused character is going to be relatively gear dependant. The issue you will have with any hybrid (Ranger included) is the xp penalty. Some groups will simply not have you, sad but true.

Having said that, if you choose a power class (none xp penalty) then getting a group shouldn't be too difficult. Make friends and play well and you will get invited back to groups later down the line. Never underestimate the power of connections!

Yeah, just play what you like! And if after a 10 levels or so you realize the class you chose is fun, but not quite your cup of tea, then just switch to another class and see how it feels. As everybody else said, there are tons of nice people giving away items all the time, and if you save up some cash by selling bone chips, HQ pelts, Greater Lightstones, or anything else people seem to want to buy, then there is plenty of good starter gear in circulation within the EQ economy. Dont forget to whack any mob you see carrying a staff as they usually sell for a plat a piece or more I think. Also, send a tell to my main Sooby if you need a lift out of your newbie zone.

Even group desirable classes are stuck with LFG on sometimes, pick what you enjoy and don't look back [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
