Default Clerical Advice

As a brand new level 4 high elf cleric should I concentrate my gold toward armor, a weapon, or just save it for spells and wear the cloth armor I loot from skeletons?

Spells are the most important thing. You don't really need a weapon since your job as a cleric is not to DPS, and you don't really need armor since your job as a cleric is not to tank (I mean, there's +wis armor, but the kind of stuff you can afford as a newbie is not going to make much of a difference in your mana pool at low levels). Save up for spells and anything you have left over should go for +mana and +wis gear.

Thanks for the advice. I've been buying my spells, but I guess I wanted to hear someone else say that's what I should be doing.

Yeah spells are pricey for sure, you can sell your CB belts/pads on to help out with that if you go into Crushbone.

Meleeing clerics above level 8 are not good clerics - get meditate at 8, and stay sat. Throw a nuke if you're full mana [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Spells. They get expensive, and you'll be grouping the majority of your career anyway. Maybe try to get some cheap armor for if you get heal aggro (i had bronze for a long time/Jarsath Scale in KC is free if you're willing to make the treck and some pieces are very good).

But otherwise you don't need much at low levels besides spells.

Spells, yeah. yes, just sell CB belts for them. Next, armor, bronze plate will work for first character. Easy to get off players coming out if Unrest, often left to rot on corpse though. You'll start out encumbered in full plate until you add some str items, mixing chain or whatnot is heavier, maybe mix leather until full set of plate.

Weapon, summon one. Later if you want to solo a little, buy something pretty fair. Weapon is good when soloing the dead. With summon weapon, at least you can delete it when you can hardly move.
