Default Raid Scene (the 5%)

I have been playing EQ on P99 for about 5 months now. When I first joined everyone said the best time I will have is leveling up and experiencing content outside of raids because raiding on P99 is a shit-show. I remember EQ classic and I figured they meant training/KSn. Then I got 60 and realized its no where near that... its 10x worse. And reading the posts about ideas of fixing it, seems like Sirken/Deru foster the environment in a manner that is fitting to the 5%, and not the 95% (of raiders). They encourage this style of 'who has the most neckbeards, and of them who actually has the longest hair?'. After all, it doesn't matter what the variance is. The variance is just the guide to the above ^, how long does xxx neckbeard need to stand at yyy spawn point. I would stop there and just say damn, guess this server is just for the 5%... but then I read a post from Rogean and have hope.

'We are all here for competition, but it needs to be fair competition'.
'Not providing the server to give people the arena to compete to such bitter extremes'

Right now you either join IB/TMO and let a few individuals dedicate their life to getting targets for 99% of their guild. Or you join Class-R and see a raid target once every 2-3 months. Is there really no solution to make the game more enjoyable for the majority of the population? Playing EQ is great, but not like this.

Nobody is forcing you to play here. The exclusivity of raid targets being monopolized by top guilds is absolutely classic.

Do you have a solution in mind that preserves the classic nature of the server and increases the "fun" for everyone?

By the way, the shot you took at the GMs (and you called two out by name) is total bull shit...just sharing my thoughts. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] GMs work (and it is WORK) to make this totally FREE game stay afloat. Anything less than thanks for making p99 real or constructive criticism to make it better is worthless.

Check out the "shit show" that other classic servers offer...p99 is light years ahead of any other place to play classic EQ. Bottom line: if you want to experience classic EQ the best place ANYWHERE to do it is right here...most of us are more than willing to put up with the problems still being worked out if it means getting to play classic style EQ.

It continues to be an aggravating realization among CSR staff that 10% of the server population causes 90% of the problems. We are all for competition, but it needs to be fair competition. We are also all here for the same thing, to experience classic Everquest. The same guild monopolizing raid content for 2 years that they might not even need anymore is ridiculous, just to block other guilds from the chance of gearing up to take on the same end game content.

I was thinking to myself the other day and I came to ask myself.. Are we providing this server to give people the arena to compete to such bitter extremes that it has resorted to taking every absolute measure to be victorious, or are we here to provide a classic Everquest experience for everyone to enjoy?

A lot of you make fun of it in your own terms, but it really does come down to fighting over very old content.

Either way, we're tired of the constant bickering, the training, the ninja looting, and all the other bullshit that's going on. So here's what we're going to do.

Starting today and then evaluated when Velious is released the CSR staff will be keeping track of how the raid guilds are treating eachother. If we do not see a significant improvement in the behavior of the raiding guilds and how they treat eachother, Velious will be released without raid content. To be clear, we want an enjoyable raid scene for everyone, not just one or two guilds. This means working together to figure out a compromise when racing for mobs, and working with smaller guilds to let them have a chance at mobs you don't absolutely need for gearing main characters.

Don't think that this means you can continue shitting on each other and just not petition, the staff will still be watching.
Long Live God Rogean. I will construct a monument in his honor! Although, if raid content isn't released in Velious, we'll just have the same shit-show in non-raid zones haha.

Actually, some servers had raid calendars. So, there's a solution that's totally classic.

5 star thread. I can't believe I voted for 5 stars and it still only has 1.

It was player driven on these servers.

Raid calendars seldom reflected "Current Content" though. Sure, you can have a Nagafen, Vox, PoSky, etc... raid calendar system, but its not going to be until the top 2 (maybe 3) guilds have picked it clean and don't need them anymore. I don't believe for a second that on Live every server's Top Guild didn't hold on desperately to claim VP/NToV/VT/Premier Loot Pinata-zone for themselves, so why expect differently here?

It seems awful because, as obvious as it is... We're on year 5 of Kunark, when it lasted 8 Months on Live. Soon(tm).

This is exactly how it was on Saryrn.

Request your guild to be put into the ToV rotation. If you appear to have the levels/toons to attempt it you are given a date to try. If you were unable to clear it then you were taken off the rotation for X amount of months before you could attempt it again. Clear it and you get a spot in rotation.

Too many guilds? Then split up the spawns by difficulty.

I am fine with two guilds ruling over VP at this stage in EQ (Kunark). It's justifiable. Everything else, no.
