the seattle grunge scene was a very nichey, people oriented music scene. i think its unfair to call out any specific band who grew in that era/region considering how heavily influenced they were by each other.

Blasphemy! I was totally into Nirvana before Cobain offed himself. They were a million times more famous than hole way before then. Do you feel the same way about Sublime? Whether or not the lead singer died Sublime was still awesome, just like Nirvana.
