Default Erudite Cleric a bad choice?

Hello all,

I've started a Erudite cleric as my first toon on P99. I haven't played EQ in a long time so it's safe to say I am once again a newb, but the prospect of P99 has me excited to play once again.

On most of the Cleric forums Erudite clerics are hardly mentioned. Everybody seems to lean toward the elves and halflings by the looks of it. Is there any reason I should not go with a Erudite, or are they just not a popular race for aesthetic reasons??

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Erudites are known for high intelligence, clerics need wisdom more. But you are not screwed as an erudite cleric, you should be fine. As erudite you can choose to be an evil cleric (starting in paineel) or a good one, which was it for you? As an evil cleric you may be able to later make xp killing skeleton guards in paineel (i heard you don't get faction hits for them), so that would be an interesting choice.

Not bad choice,

Close stat spread to a dark elf, and people play those. Same base wis a dark elf, and dwarf. Higher than a gnome, human, or halfling.

Halfing good for sneaking. High elves good for tunare bracer. Dwarves for inate + 5 MR.

From a pure min/max High elf is the best dwarf is worst.

I play an erudite cleric myself and I'm having no trouble doing my everyday cleric duties.
I have yet to see another erudite cleric so the uniqueness makes up for any stats you are missing out on , which as stated above, is not much.
And I believe erudites also get innate MR as we'll but I've been wrong before.

The only bad choice you can make is starting to play classic eq again, everything after that is just a choice.

My red cleric is a CT worshipping erudite cleric who started in Paineel. It's certainly different in terms of where you start and where you end up leveling.

You're right there's not many on blue at all. The issue for most people is its away from EC, away from being able to twink up easily and away from things like CB belt quests and free buffs in the tunnel.

People like easy. That's another reason why there arguably aren't as many barbarians in the game as you'd find on live servers back in classic times [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I went with Quellious as I like the lore. I'm hearing that CT may have been a better choice because Paineel has better quests. Just wanted to try something different as I plan to roll and Iksar Shaman at some point and will have to go CT on him.

Yeah fair enough. I've been leveling in Qeynos area and it seems to be great xp, plus they have the Gnoll tooth quest for a bit of an exp boost. Seems to be a decent amount of people there too although not as populated as the commons and/or gfay.

Make sure to do this quest: http://wiki.project1999.com/Rabid_Wolves

It's a decent amount of plat for not much effort - I think there's 2 in Qeynos Hills.
