Default Original EQ Demo

Does anyone remember the original EQ Demo before Kunark? I seem to recall it being Trumpy Irontoe acting as guide to this small zone that had a skeleton to defeat in it and a recovery of a gem. I remember playing it when totally bored and the servers were down. I looked on youtube but there are unfortunately no videos of it. Would be nice to see it again.

Yeah, the original tutorial.

You could also use the tutorial exe to load any zone in the game, by modifying the command line to use a different map file. The loaded zone wouldn't load any NPCs of course, but you could explore it offline.

Maybe you're thinking about the original tutorial?

Yes, I remember that! You ran around as Soandso, haha. I think there was a large rat or something in there as well. Trumpy kept telling you what to do but you could run around as much as you wanted while ignoring him.

This is what got me playing EQ back in 2000. I got the EQ demo in one of those "demo pack" CDs that came with PC GAMER mag. I remember being like 12 years old and playing that demo over and over again. It always crashed at the end. Finally got my parents to buy a subscription and I was off into Norrath.
