EQ Loads to Black Screen

Hey Guys,

Super excited to play EQ again, like it should be (original retail player here.)

BUT when I load the game it loads a black screen and nothing else. Details of the issue are below:

Win 7, compat mode for XP SP3. Full DX Diag results are posted at the end of this message.

- working with a fresh install of EQ Titanium
- followed the setup guide exactly
- checked common things listed in forums: host file, compat mode etc.
- made a shortcut for EQGame.exe on the desktop, pointed it's path to c:\eqemu\eqgame.exe patchme
- When I run the shortcut (compatibility mode for XP SP3) it loads a black screen that has the gold EQ cursor on it - and nothing else. I left the screen up for ~10 minutes to make sure it wasn't loading anything, and still nothing. There is also no sound on the black screen. Also no results when randomly clicking around the black screen

My video card drives are up to date, as is everything else.

I also have WINEQ2 installed & running. I've tried this both with and without it running, no change.

Any help/guidance you can provide is greatly appreciated.

If I said "patchme" to you, would you know what I meant and have done it?

Just a thought but it could be a result of EQ wanting to patch itself with the live servers...to do that you need to make an adjustment.

Make a shortcut to the desktop (or wherever) of eqgame.exe from your P99 folder, then right click and select properties.

Then (as the pic suggests) add patchme after the directory path.

That'll stop it wanting to patch to the live servers, and you should see the server select screen!

If that doesn't work, it might have patched to live and you might need to uninstall/reinstall before doing the above...good luck!

Well, I Know the patchme command is used to bypass the SOE launcher.

Turns out my problem was not using WinEQ2 correctly. I flexed my Google-Fu and figured it out - was my first time using the application.

I have this same problem. It was working 1 week ago. Booted back into win 7 again today & it loads to black screen. No EULA, nothing. Just the EQ window and a black screen.

This computer is not used for anything else, so nothing has changed (not by any user). Using the same patchme desktop shortcut as before.

Failed twice in a row. Ran it a third time and it worked.
