Haynar: Got rid of some extra spell worn off message (reenabled the worn off filter - was in a good mood and feeling nice). If you re-cast a detrimental spell and overwrite your own same spell, you will no longer get a worn off message.

Though I've heard some people get Beneficial spell worn off messages. I can't seem to get these to work I've tried toggling filters and messing with settings, just one of those things I guess.

I don't get these but I can mouse over buffs I cast on myself to see how long is left.

Perhaps im thinking of detrimental spells...one of them is supposed to show a worn off message and either way I can't get it to show =p

The worn off messages are mostly useful for keeping track of buffs and debuffs on other players and mobs. Everyone can see how long their own buffs will last.

If others don't know, in modern EQ you can just target someone and see the buffs on them (and the timers). It's kind of like being able to read someone's intentions so you don't need to ask them as much what they're doing. That would help to prevent terrorist attacks. Anyway, I think the worn off messages are nice as you don't have to ask whether they need refreshes or not. It still takes some concentration and you might need audio triggers.

But the ... modern game is a lot more convoluted and lots more windows and hotkeys. Personally, I like how simplistic project1999 is. There's not near as much baggage. Also.. if you think the eq client is complicated, you should have a look at some of the clients for muds (text-based mmorpgs). That is convoluted.

One way to keep track of refreshes is to cast teh buffs on yourself before casting them on others. But this costs extra mana. It's handy though if you can afford it.

Understood. I have only seen messages about debuffs I have cast wearing off. I have not seen a message about a buff I have cast on a player wearing off, so i still time by casti the buff on myself and using that to time.
