Default New Cleric Gear

New cleric looking to get started. Kind player gave me a bit of plat and suggested I buy a full set of banded and a shark bone war hammer. Said I could get this for the 150pp he gave me. Is anyone selling this stuff by chance ?

There are some really good online resources for tracking down people selling items and determining prices.
a) Wiki (Lookup an item and see the auction tracker on the right)
http://wiki.project1999.com/Sharkbone_Warhammer
b) ahungry.com
http://ahungry.com/eqauctions
c) p99auctions

That being said for banded you pretty much just need to wait for someone to be making and auctioning it in EC. The hammer you can lookup at the above resources and try to find someone actively selling it.

An alternative to the banded armor, depending on your race (no dwarves), is Jarsath armor. It's NO DROP Armor that drops in Karnor's Castle. It rots 99.9999% of the time. So you'd basically need to hang out in the zone and ask to loot it.
Here's a link to the Wiki article on the set showing the benefits.

It's dangerous so you might want to wait until you can bind yourself outside. But if you're willing to take the risk some of the pieces are nice.

An excellent cleric bracer also drops in KC which doesn't rot as often but you might get lucky.

Either way, GL and welcome to the server.

Thank you very much for the info and advice. I thought maybe I'd try to just level smithing... But was told that wasn't a good idea to get started...?

Delayed response but it's probably cheaper to just buy it. Banded isn't too far into Blacksmithing (80-100s?). But I wouldn't recommend Tradeskills to anyone unless they have money to burn.

If you're not having much luck finding Banded you could go to Mistmoore and ask to buy Bronze there. As long as you're beating a vendor's price I'm sure they'll be happy to sell.
