![]() At level 41 I had 23% exp toward my next level. I died and was at 4%. Does that sound right? Losing 19% of exp from one death? I was deep in CT.

![]() The level after hell levels (31, 36, 41, 46) always have huge losses when you die.
Lesson learned: Don't die on these levels [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

![]() Yeah, it's because it's after a hell level. When you die, you lose exp proportional to the amount you had to get the previous level. That's why the level after a hell level is the actual shitty level; the hell level itself is just long, but the level after you have a much worse penalty for dying.

![]() Thanks for the responses. I guess I just didn't remember it being that bad. Fortunately, with the experience bonus right now, I will probably get all of the experience back just fighting all the way down to my corpse (which is by the champion).

![]() The death penalty is XP equal to 10% of the amount you needed to gain your previous level, or just under half a yellow bubble for most levels. Hell levels take roughly twice as much XP as you would expect, thus the penalty is roughly twice as bad as you'd expect next level: just under a whole yellow bubble.

![]() If I recall, on Live when the max level was 60, going from 59 to 60 took about as much time as going from 50 to 59.
