As far as I know Uthgaard has a query to keep track of all the merchant sales that people are getting screwed over on.

I think once a fix is in place everyone will be refunded all the money they have lost since the bug started occurring.

Similarly, I sold a thick leather apron (4p and change) to the baker merchant in Grobb and got zero money too, but other items sold just fine, I took a screenshot and will post if you like, but it seems to be a common problem.
