Velious was never released...

They have a DB backup of your characters in Kunark. What you're experiencing right now is just an extended Velious Beta. They saw not enough people wanted to devote their time to Velious Beta even after 5 years of Kunark so they lied and claimed Velious was being released. But it hasn't been. See the Velious Beta forums still being up as proof.

This was a necessary measure to make sure to root out obvious bugs that don't get tested during a typical Beta like ToV bonds and the lack of Lazy aggro code.

Expect Velious launch some time in winter of 2017, once the Chardok revamp and October 2001 patch are all coded up and Velious is ready to ship.
