Default Backpack Open/Close Sound File

I have my backpacks bound to open and close all at once and for some reason it is amplifying the sound to ridiculous levels. Does anyone know the name of these two files ? I would like to delete them rather than download some third party program. Thanks.

Here are the steps to remove the thunder sound. You could probably dig around and find the backpack sounds. https://www.project1999.com/forums/a...p/t-12623.html

At least the backpack sounds are rather soft, the box opening sounds are clackety and squeaking.

itemclth.wav in snd2.pfs

You'll need S3DSpy to remove it. Alternatively, I made some easy-to-install sound packages with lots of fixes here: https://www.project1999.com/forums/s...p?p=2440366#26

Wow, people recommending installing a program to do this. Guess people will install anything.

Sound effects in EQ are controlled by the SoundAssets.txt file in your directory - just open it in notepad and delete the names of files you don't want to play in game. It 100% works and I use it to remove wind, werewolf sounds, etc so I can keep sound on and not hate EQ.

I'm not sure which one is the backpack sound as I haven't disabled it.

Sorry about that, Dropbox had made some changes to their site recently so I had to recreate those links: https://www.project1999.com/forums/s...57#post2488457

Ah yeah, I forgot you can usually just delete the file reference in SoundAssets.txt, but this doesn't always work for all sounds - some will bypass the assets reference and still be read from the .pfs archive by the client regardless, so I just opt to delete them from the actual .pfs archive to be sure.

And no, despite its suspicious name and tendency to false-positively identify as a virus, S3DSpy is not malware and is completely safe to download and use.

Also another thing I noticed now that is related to the backpack opening sound that now when I camp, or zone-in (whenever there is a loading... please wait.) I get that backpack sound and it is starting to be annoying?

I just started noticing it now, and I think (haven't tried it) I had my backpacks open when I camped and or zoned-in?

I wonder can you do this for that intro theme song when you first log in or are loading into EQ.

Since I noticed that intro song is always blaring even if you have the sound at the lowest setting (well low enough so you can still hear the other sounds) so normally (well depending what I am doing) I am listening to music or watching youtube videos and when I first load everquest I have to pause/mute until I can get in-game so I have to bother with that intro theme.
