What's the usual protocol for the MQ transaction of expensive (50K+) items? Does the person receiving the MQ effect pay before or after? Is there a 50% before / 50% after scenario? Is it worth paying for an escrow service from a trusted third party? Is it generally a good idea to have both parties state in game chat the purpose of the trade and which items/PP are involved, and then take screenshots of these next to a /time timestamp?
I think for well-known buyers/sellers this is less of an issue, but we've seen cases in the past of players from reputable guilds being involved in large scams. What are best practices for players on either side of these transactions?

I've payed for the MQ afterwards, but they were players from known guilds

When I'm selling one, I ask for the money upfront.

I've always operated under the "Money up front" style.
Since staff do not support MQs, I've always feared that buyers would simply tell me to fuck off afterwards, and I'd be SOL trying to get my money out of them because it's "MQ related". In the inverse though, If someone handed me 70k and I don't even attempt to provide a service, I think I would be liable for scamming, and the buyer WOULD have recourse. In my experience, nobody has ever had a problem paying me up front.(Jboots/sham tears/cle epics) Although, I digress, my experience with staff decisions have wildly varied with identical situations, so I really don't know who would have what options in the end. Edit: I did take a 50/50 once on a jboots because the guy was guildless, wary, and new, to put him at ease. I did SS his agreement that the trade was only -half- payment and he confirmed he still owed me the other half afterwards.

Buying MQs is always a risk. People try to log the transactions and all that, but you can't petition a MQ. The seller should get payment in advance, and the buyer should expect to be paying in advance. Not only can the person just steal your money, but if the turn-in fails and it isn't their fault, they are not going to want to refund you.
Although, being in AG I have never had a problem asking for payment up front. I also refunded 100k once when the guy changed his mind. Just use your head and stick to guilds that don't have high turnover on members, if you don't recognize the person ask around.

I recently did a 350kpp MQ and paid afterwards. It's a lot better if both parties are from trusted guilds. I asked for references haha. It worked out quite smoothly and I paid in full the moment it was done.
