Default Rest the Dead

The necro and SK spell Rest the Dead is consuming bone chips, which it should not be as it requires no components to cast. Lucky me practicing abjuration with Rest the Dead blew thru 8 stacks of bone chips in no time. Just thought ya should know. Thank you!

Default Rest vs Numb

Are you sure you're using "Rest the Dead" -- the level 24 necro spell -- and not the lower level equivalent Numb the Dead?

AFAIK, Rest does not take any bone chips -- I've been using it fairly frequently over the last few days and it has never taken bone chips from me for casting it. I just logged in to check before I posted this as well and confirming that a single cast of RtD by a level 36 necro does not consume any bone chips.

"Numb the Dead", the lower level version, DOES take bone chips and this has been stated as working as intended by the devs. Apparently in classic NtD used to take bone chips, though that was changed at some point.

Hope this helps. Moral of the story: use rest the dead instead of numb the dead.

Sorry about this my mistake, my main is 50 necro so i'm used to using Rest the Dead for a lull. But yes mate I was using Numb the Dead on my lowbie SK. It does not say it consumes a bone chip in the spell description, nor does it on Lucy, so I was a bit confused.

After looking through the spell history on Lucy I do see that it was changed to not consume a Bone Chip on 2003-5-14. So the Numb the Dead on p1999 server reflects a spell description mirroring that what was implemented on the mentioned date.

Sorry for the inconvenience, feel free to delete post if necessary.
