Default Sk armor question

So I知 now almost at lvl 40 and was wondering if I should switch from a crusty set to a darkforge set which also happens to be needed for future epic attempt.. any thoughts?

I don't recommend that. Darkforge is not an upgrade over Crustacean. Many pieces of the latter set are clearly superior to the former, and none are worse than about even. You do not strictly require Darkforge to complete the epic quest, either, so it's optional in that respect. When you eventually upgrade your primary-use armor, you'll look for items with much higher armor rating than either of those sets offer. Typically tanks in the 50's can expect to wind up in mix-and-match equipment, although a minority (those with good funding behind them) jump directly to Velious quest sets or equivalent.

You can mix darkforge, sentient and blood ember for a fairly red overall look. Less sta and Str but higher AC.

Oh hmm. Well Darkforge BP and Legs have decent AC and some STA. Black enameled BP is more AC but no stats and would match the legs which are great. Blood Ember Bracer, Arms, boots.

This looks like black chain but a Blood Ember helm would look great too.:
