Default set up issue unable to edit eqhost.txt

Whenever I go to edit the file it says its cant be created to make sure the path is correct. What am I doing wrong here? Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

might be eqhosts.txt not sure not at home.

The problem for me was i wasn't an admin. Either create it and save it to your my documents folder then copy it over and replace. Or try to give your self administrator rights to the folder

If this is windows Vista or Seven, even if you are an administrator you need to give yourself permisssions to edit anything in program files (or program files x86)

Just look for the little windows "shield" click that and you're good to go.

If you have User Account Control activated, it will give you a "permission denied" error or some such. If this is your issue, then you can, as flednat said, save it into My Documents and then move it (it will prompt you to confirm as an Administrator), or you can edit the file directly in an elevated notepad. To do this, right-click the notepad shortcut and click "Run as Administrator".
