Default Enchanter Starting stats

Hello all,

I started an enchanter on this great server yesterday with a friend and forgot to look up anything online before putting my stats into int/sta and entering the world.

I have since realized that guides tell enchanters to always put 25 into cha no matter what race.

My basic question: Does it matter so much that I should re roll the character now? I am level 4 and while I dont want to re roll for negligible increases I do want to re roll if this is seen as game breaking by most.

Can anyone give me their opinion on this?

Thanks

The game is hardly broken by not going 25 Cha. You can accomplish everything in the game with even the most cringe-worthy of starting stat decisions.

That being said, I have a level 60 dark elf enchanter and I have two regrets about the toon: 1) not rolling high elf, and 2) not putting all 25 into charisma to start.

With a day invested, I would reroll, but I’ve reached the endgame and it matters (a teeny tiny little bit). Most people don’t.

Noting that you can accomplish anything in game with any stat allocation in the beginning, why is 25 cha one of your regrets? Also why do you wish you were high elf? Is there some advantage they get over other races?

HIE just has better starting stats than DE. Assuming identical access to gear, HIE will reach max stats easier, which can give them room to fill some slots with +HP, +Mana, Health Regen etc.

I chose DE for racial hide, and so far I don't regret it. Maybe I will at some point, but being able to AFK most places without worrying about it is nice.

Part of the fun of the end game (to me) is discovering and identifying different gear paths. High elf with 25 CHA and 5 int provides (IMO) the most flexibility to allow for more +hp and +mana and resist gear while also maintaining high levels of charisma. It’s a min-maxing game, and good +charisma gear is harder to find than +int gear when you are killing VP and Velious mobs.

That being said, all that gear does for an enchanter is expand your margin for error. For example, doing Howling Stones at 1200 hp and 2500 mana (roughly my stats when I first entered HS) has a much smaller margin for error than doing it at 1900 hp and 3700 mana (roughly my stats now). It allows me to charm and survive charm breaks on tougher mobs in raid zones (Kael or PoG, for example). Certain charm strategies are also really only available when you hit a certain mana pool (Boltrans isn’t really viable at 2500 mana. Now it’s about the only charm spell I use).

I have a DE and I think racial hide is pretty worthless for the way I play. Long AFKs in places that you would need to hide (e.g., aren’t safe) aren’t super important. You can just camp. And hide is too inconsistent for charm breaks.

Yeah reroll now while you don't have very much time invested. You could still charm your way to 60 with all your points in INT/CHA but you will probably always regret it. Having 200+ int wont benefit you nearly as much as 200+ cha and at higher levels you will be able to replace 25 CHA worth of gear with HP gear.

I put 25 into CHA when I started but like Baylan said I always regret not rolling high elf. Not rolling a high elf didn't ruin the game for me but it forces me to use +CHA stuff where I could use +HP stuff which sucks.

Now, Fashion Quest is undeniably a dark elf’s game...

PoG robe is sexy on a dark elf.

An extra 50 hp or whatever people are sperging about wont save you from anything. Play what you think looks the coolest.

It was at this point I decided to no longer be kind to the casuals as they have extreme short term memory. They did this to themselves, unfortunately.

Literally the first words in this thread said that you can accomplish everything in the game no matter your stat allocation.

Some people like to min-max. If this person is one of them, they will appreciate me telling them how to min-max.

If they don’t, they’ll appreciate that I said it matters an infinitesimal amount and is insufficient for me to consider rerolling even though I say it matters.
