Default Peridot Loot

I am always amazed as I am sitting in a group trying to med back up (Cleric) from someone thinking they are invincible and pulling the entire zone after I have buffed them and Symbol them, when I see someone loot a Peridot.
I am not going to ask or beg or any of that nonsense for you to give it to either the Cleric or the Enchanter who can use it to save your butt. Nor do I say that you are not within your right to keep it being a member of that group. But really, what are you going to do with it? Sell it? Its worth 10 PP, and for most at the level where Peridots drop that isn't much. Many Kunark items are going for much more than that.
As your healer I almost never loot because I am too busy either Medding up or trying to save your ass. If I spent that time looting I would not have the mana to save you from your ill conceived train. (even with Clarity, if a Bard is there too, then OK)
I don't complain about that, your health is MY responsibility and I only loot when I know that someone isn't going to die or I (on those rare occasions) win a roll on an item. So not only do I not take a lot of the trash loot (which adds to your coffers) I spend a Peridot on the Tank to keep her happy, one on me as a timer so I don't die and then you die and another on the Chanter who is Monster bait. That's 30 PP every hour from my loot.

So the next time you are grouped with a Cleric or Chanter. Consider giving it to someone who can use. You also may want to watch and see how much your Cleric is looting and if they are not, offer another item that they can sell later.(Preferable light in nature) We may say we don't need it, but you should offer. It just might save your life.

Thumbs up

I'm an enchanter and I still hand every peridot over to the cleric in my groups. It's just good policy.

Maybe you should say something, or is it my responsibility to keep track of everyone's reagents?

I agree that peridots should go to the cleric, but I think it's all part of that "don't be an ass" mentality we just hope (incorrectly) that everybody shares. Then again, I've played with some pretty scrubby clerics who think that everybody wearing plate in an exp group needs to have symbol up at all times.

When I played my cleric/necro I never expected help with regents for my spells anyway and I had bags full of peridots/coffins/EE's I either payed for myself because it was part of playing my class or had looted over time. It was never a big deal if I didn't get every single peridot drop in a group because frankly I didn't think they were that expensive and I knew that over time I would get the amount I deserved in the long run anyway.

For every peridot drop that you don't get, there will be 3 that you do.

As a cleric I never ask for them. Every group I have been in always gives them to me though. It's not that big of a deal tbh...

I loot the peridots I see every time just so that I can guarantee it goes to the cleric. I also give most other gems (mithril amulets, sapphires, star rubies, etc.) to clerics so that they can afford peridots more easily. Looting a peridot just so you can sell it is like looting Words or some other research item just so you can vendor it. If there's someone else it could go to: don't be a dick. I also don't think clerics should hesitate to ask for one if someone else happens to loot a peridot, as I'm pretty sure most people would just hand it over.

On live, I made it standard practice to carry around a stack of dots to give to the cleric while grouped, after we broke up, or while exping if needed. I plan on repeating that practice here on p99. I played a ranger on live and again here on p99, so I can appreciate how valuable a cleric's mana is [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
