Damage Dealer Rankings

I'm guessing someone has already done the math on this. But what do you think the sustained damage rankings are? Assume they have the best equipment and buffs, and non stop pulls. Here is my guess, probably completely wrong.

1. Rogue
2. Monk
3. Wizard
4. Ranger
5. Bard
6. Warrior
7. Magician
8. Necromancer
9. Shaman
10. Shadow Knight
11. Paladin
12. Druid
13. Enchanter
14. Cleric

Kunark changes alot, but Mage pets melee damage only was only behind rogues and monks on my parser before kunark on raids so I think mages are likely higher on the list. I think rogue and monk at 1 and 2 is correct in your typical group, but I never had a parser to test back in the day.

Gear is very important for melee though and no one on the server has the best rogue weapon in game ( thornstinger ) so I'm not sure it makes sense to compare with best gear

Quick parse from our 2~ grouping of Hate recently. I'd put Warrior higher on your list though. Bards generally aren't that great DPS unless they are stacking DoTs and not helping their group at all... which would be epic failure.

Some of this is definitely wrong but I'll only comment on the placing of Bards since I play one. Bards definitely do not out-DPS warriors or other tanks. With all their dots they probably would, but roughly even con mobs resist those very often, so in ordinary situations tanks do more damage since the Bard would just be using his weapons.

As hinted above, your list makes little sense unless you specify dungeons, levels, etc. If you had a group of level 60's, one of each class, fighting mid-50's mobs, then Bards would probably beat clerics and that's about it.

With best gear in the game you're going to have all the melee classes ahead of the magic classes. Paladins/Shadowknights with a 51/53 2hb + max str & max haste, or a 39/47 with 200+dmg ice proc will put out higher numbers then any caster. The reason being, a casters spells are as effective now as they will ever be. Necros/mages can slightly boost their overall maximum DPS by getting focus items, but that's it.

I pick paladins/sks to talk about simply because they're without a doubt the lowest DPS providing melee in the game (i don't count bards as melee)

I used to parse about 7dps at level 50 on planar trash with 2x 11/25 weps. Bard melee dps is not very good, lol.

Would be nice to see a "true" parse of dps, in other words a fight lasting 5min or longer. 1minute could be subject to lucky crits and such.

How about a parse from a planar raid perhaps?
