Default UI questions

Just came back to EQ in Nov 2021. I made a HIE enchanter on the Green server. I installed the EQ files from a link in a youtube video by a guy named Joe Leonard. It had a link to a file that installed the needed files. I patched and (according to his directions) typed /load duxaui after character creation. My interface does not look at all like the ones in his videos which were done in 2019.

Since then I have learned that these custom UI are not allowed on the Green server.

I made level 13 and tried to charm wisps at Erud' Crossing. I successfully charmed the wisp but no pet window came up at all. I looked at the wiki and it suggested ALT + F1 but that did not activate the window. Tried and second time and got my a$$ handed to me by 4 wisps. I never played a pet class back when playing original.

Questions:
1) Do I need to reinstall the EQ files? I do have a copy of the original EQ Platinum disks.
2) Which UI is best that is legal to use? Should I just use the old original interface? Is the Velious better?
3) With the hot key bar issue only the top 6 slots stay active from zone to zone. I have forgotten and haven't found a way to create multiple hot bars. In the old days with custom UIs on the paid EQ service, my hot bars could be horizontal. Can you do this with p99?

And finally a game play question

4) Everyone seems to agree that wisp isle is a great place to level from 12-16. Should I do that with pet? My LV 12 pet spell creates pets from LV 9-12. I summoned one and it was not hitting wisps. Does this mean that only if I summon a LV 12 pet it will hit those mobs due to the "only hit by magic item" requirement?

Thanks in advance for the help.
Faiil LV13 HIE Chanter Green (surname will be ureisnotanoption)

No pet window on Green
1 ) Does not sound as if you need to reinstall.
2 ) Stuck with that UI on Green.
3 ) Apparently that is a bug.
4 ) I'm no expert on Pet classes but a summoned pet should count as a magic weapon. You'll have to keep recasting the pet until you get one that's effective vs the target.

Here is a list of pet commands that you can use, a few do not work here, but most should. these commands are for a charmed pet, not the summoned one.

https://everquest.fanra.info/wiki/Pet_commands

As fas as a pet window there is not one on P99, however what you can do is what most of us do. The box that has who, invite, disband etc, as well as combat , skills and a social page.

What you do is the last tab the social page has pages 1 - 10 , the page 1 has preset macros on it you can keep those, and use another page for your macros or just change those.

Right click on any little box , at the top give t a title, then the default is white and hard to read, so change the color to blue, black etc one you like.

Then on the lines below type your /command like /pet attack and save, for /pet attack macro, I recommend on line one typing /pet back off, then on the next line below that type /pet attack and save.

you basically use the social age to create a pet control window by creating macros, yu have room for 12 commands per page. which for me 12 commands on one page to control pets is plently,

Also make a pet break macro, so your group will know your charmed pet has broke, and you may need a fast stun or taunt, heal etc until you can stun mez and recharm.

most use the lvl 4 mez to recharm pet breaks as it is low cost, fast cast, and doesn`t keep the pet mezed out of the fight for to long.

/pAtk
/pet back off
/pet follow
/pet attack

/pBck
/pet back off
/pet follow

/pTaunt
/pet taunt

(Pet taunt is a toggle)

/pSit
/pet sit

/pStand
/pet follow
/pet stand

/pGuard
/pet guard

I just /pet go away or /pet get lost right in my chat buffer before summoning, remember you can hit shift and up arrow if you're chaining.

Got those on page 1-3 of hotkeys aswell as assist.

For enchanter at 12, only the higher level ones can hit wisps. I'd recommend summoning a pet, making sure it isn't green, pulling a wisp and rooting and getting the pet to hit it. If it can't summon a new one.

A couple of things you can do to make up for no pet window:

1. Go into Options / Keybindings. Map the "Toggle Last Target" to a key. By default it is not mapped to any key. I have mine to "Numpad Enter"

2. Create a Macro. I call mine "Pet Monitor" for lack of a better name. It consists of two commands:
- /pet target (targets your pet. Equivalent to F1-F1)
- /assist (targets your pets target)

How to use these keys:
- Select the target you want your pet to kill
- Send your pet after the target, by issuing the /pet attack command
- Hit your "Pet Monitor" key. Your pet will briefly be targeted then it will select the mob you are trying to kill.
- Use your "ToggleLastTarget" key to flip back and forth between your pet, and your pet's target, so you can keep track of the health of both.
