Default Fourth of July GM Event

I just want to thank Uthgaard for putting that together. Been on the server a long time now, and that was the best event I've seen. Challenging, made hostile guilds work together, and overall a lot of fun.

Kudos man, thanks for keeping P99 fun [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Anyone have a summary of the event? Just curious, I saw some of the broadcasts about Brosama Bin Floggin but wasn't online long enough to participate.

I'm curious to know what happened too.

I saw the broadcasts while hunting down in Blackburrow, but I couldn't figure out what was going on or how to get involved [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.].

Sounded like fun though.

I didn't log in until the event was over, but I saw the items that were passed out being linked. Personally I think giving out PoS quest items that require tons of work and killing the hardest mobs in the current game state trivializes those who have these powerful items the hard way. I like gm events rewarding items like guise and golden efreeti armor because these items have a high cool factor but are not very powerful, but 41% haste items are another story.

I think giving out guises trivializes those of us that are server veterans which are marked by the guise like a badge of awesome.

But then I shrug and realize I don't care all that much. let people that didn't google "eq" 10 days after the launch of p99 have some fun too.

I'm glad you spent as much effort researching the difficulty of what took place as you did researching what dropped.

The encounter was pretty mean, Im suprised we killed him on the first try, we did have 80 players though.

Tell us what your plan for that was, with the seals n stuff? You said we sisnt have the fight figured out at all and you expected us to get pasted.

Ultra fun btw. And that cloak is nasty.

It went great. The tuning was perfect from what I saw. The lower levels got to have some fun, Daliant got DTed trying to KS one from a newb, and it made the higher levels help some lower levels out.

The fire giants were tweaked up to an appropriate challenge, every raid guild combined to about 100 total present, and still nearly wiped to an unexpected Skarlon pull. I was really glad to see that even some 50+ from non-raiding guilds came and participated.

Brosama himself was level 65 with 128k hp, vs's proc, velk's aggro drop on a 30 second cooldown, and gravity flux on a 45 second cooldown. He was designed so that everyone would have to work together to make it happen. The goal was to implement enough survivablity to make it unzergable, to shit all over midnight mallets, and make people react quickly to changes in aggro and positioning with all of the lava nearby.

They held on really well, at 10% they started to lose people and healers were going oom. It looked like he was going to pull out ahead, but they stepped up their game and got him down.
You all were expecting a DT, and the positioning plan was most likely going to get your healers fluxed at the same time. But you didnt try to pull him around the corner and that was in your favor. The enchanters realized that he could be manatapped, I was surprised they picked up on that first attempt. I was really impressed with how few people died in general, with the aggro dropping chaos. It was some great teamwork and leadership.
