Default Installing and playing Project99 using Lutris

Hello! I have been attempting to install Everquest on a Linux system. I don't have much familiarity with Wine, or Lutris. I've watched some videos, and it seems like it should be pretty simple, but I have not managed to do it. I have a zip file containing EQ Titanium, but the instructions I've read/watched call for using disk images. I'm not sure what to do to add/install EQ in Lutris with the zip/folder. I will have the Titanium disks shortly, and I am hoping that this will make it simpler.

If anyone has a explain-like-I'm-10-and-incompetent-guide to install on Linux, using Lutris, or some other (preferably simple) method, I would appreciate it.

When I used Ubuntu/Cinnamon, I took the EverQuest folder from a windows installation and copied it over and it worked without needing to re-install on the linux system. Would think Lutris would work the same? If you have that option available

One thing to note dsetup.dll from the patch is often all lowercase and on linux systems its case sensitive and needs to be renamed to DSETUP.dll so the client can find it (You'll receive Spell list out of date errors if it stays all lowercase)

Thank you. I don't have access to Windows at the moment. I am hoping that my attempt to install in Lutris with the disks will be obvious, and work.

I used Lutris to install it on the Android boot of an Anbernic rg353m. It wasn't horribly complicated, maybe took like a day to get it going. The problem is the controls/typing/etc.

It would make for a decent EC Tunnel bot but I felt like any serious play was very difficult. The touchscreen buttons plus having to pull the keypad up on a touchscreen made things more annoying than not.

I normally play with a controller too on PC, but I couldn't even really program that efficiently tbh. I'm sure down the line everything will smoothen out, but it's just not quite there.

P.S. I noticed you're doing it on a PC so you should be fine, I was specifically talking about an android device. Expect odd loading times though, as you'll be using an OS to emulate an OS to run a program that emulates EQ to get to the p99 servers..

You don't need a windows install for the folder method: if you've obtained the game in folder form the folder works equally on linux and windows. I'm not familiar with lutris but with wine IIRC I unzipped it into wine's program files folder.

It runs well on linux for me, except I've occasionally had a bug or two that seemed to be limited to some specific version of wine.

The game freezes a lot. It has been suggested to me that I use this "4gb patch"; https://ntcore.com/4gb-patch/

I don't know how to accomplish this using Lutris/Wine. If anyone could suggest how I might do this, I'd appreciate it.
