Default Warrior off hand

Is it best to go with a higher damage off hand for Warrior, or am i still best getting a proc weapon for the off hand? I am picking up a Sarnak Warhammer today for my primary, but was thinking of getting either a Wurmslayer or Shimmering Partisan for offhand.

Any suggestions? Should I just skip them both and get something like a Silken Whip or Yak Club?

I'm pretty sure Wurmslayer is primary only now. Either way, go with a proc weapon. You need every little bit you can get, and even though your off-hand proc rate is halved, you want to give yourself as many chances as possible. Proccing is the only way you can tank. You aren't there for your DPS, and your off-hand attacks are significantly less than half of your total damage anyway.

Sarnak Warhammer is just fine if you're high enough level for it to proc. For off-hand, I'd get the whip, the proc is fairly solid aggro and the ratio is really good after all. The -5AC is a bit of a bitch, but it's so little when you think about it. The club will do just fine as well, but it looks like crap and the 9/24 ratio is a bit low. I know I said it didn't matter much, but it all still counts.

As I've been telling people lately, also consider Throneblade of the Ykesha. If you're just tanking exp-group mobs that die in 15 seconds, you don't need high sustained threat, you need a very fast proc. The slow Throneblade has an insane proc chance per swing due to the 51 delay, so you have a really good chance to proc on your first swing and on ripostes. The ratio is acceptable as well, and as an added bonus, you take less riposte damage yourself.

Wurmslayer is going to be nerfed soon if not already.

Get a snare whip for offhand imo.

Also it's not high damage offhand that's best, it's RATIO that's best.

Snare whip = 0.5 ratio, partisan is only 0.436 ratio.

Partisan does add 20 dex though, probably still not worth it over a snare whip or something but it might be worth testing.

The Green Jade Axe is a solid one for dmg but no proc. I would go with the snare whip personally as it's a ton of taunt. Anything with Ykesha proc is solid too.

In a perfect world a Blood Fire would be pretty awesome [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Blood Fire isn't very high aggro. It's worse than any of the stun/ykesha procs.

As I said in the other thread, I use bloodfire (extra damage is nice). I have plenty of aggro from my main though, just waiting for a bogde to replace the bloodfire.

Ah good point. That line of dots is pretty low taunt.

My buddy mostly used the BF for soloing. The mind gets fuzzy thinking back that far [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.].

Fist of Zek has a better ratio than Green Jade Axe for offhand DPS, and a bigger STR bonus. Of course, it's got a hit of -20 AGI, but compared to the Jade Axe's -12 STA it's not bad. And it's dirt cheap because it's Warrior only.

If we going with any kind of weopon for offhand i would go with Dagas. The raw 100hp boost and +20 ac is pretty nice, also ratio isnt too bad.
