Default What ancient culture are the Iksar Cabilis inspired by?

Maybe I'm stupid, but what ancient culture is Cabilis or the Iksar inspired by or based on exactly?

Ok and is there some culture in real life that the Shissar or the Iksar were inspired by?

That’s a good question- I must’ve misunderstood you. On that, I am not sure!

Honestly, my first thought was that they're older than the Babylonian Talmud Jews and maybe something like the secret rulers of the world the Lizard Illuminati. But seeing the design of Cabilis and those patterns on the stone walls, I wonder if there is a culture in real life that represents them good? Those Shissar look a little bit Egyptian to me I mean they look like Cobra Snakes.

Unrelated, but the spelling seems too close to the actual name to be coincidence.

Origin
late Middle English: via medieval Latin from Arabic al-'iksīr, from al ‘the’ + 'iksīr from Greek xērion ‘powder for drying wounds’ (from xēros ‘dry’).

Elixir huh? What's the Iksar got to do with an elixir though other than pronunciation? I think the Shissar are Ancient Egyptian looking but the Iksar Cabilis city looks a little Persian or Babylonian to me, could be wrong though. I really love Cabilis I felt right at home there. Love the rain and even though I'm not a good swimmer and afraid to dive I really like Cabilis and the Iksar. Gonna make an Iksar Necromancer as my first and main class.

Regeneration. A bit of a stretch, but still plausible. If nothing else, it would've made for a good excuse when asked.

Fertility and rebirth
Historically, serpents and snakes represent fertility or a creative life force. As snakes shed their skin through sloughing, they are symbols of rebirth, transformation, immortality, and healing.[11] The ouroboros is a symbol of eternity and continual renewal of life.

Ancient Mesopotamia
An early mention of an elixir of life is found in the Epic of Gilgamesh (from the 2nd millennium BC) in which Gilgamesh comes to fear his own declining years following the death of his beloved companion Enkidu.[1] He seeks out Utnapishtim, a figure in Mesopotamian mythology known for surviving a great flood sent by the gods and being granted immortality. Gilgamesh is directed by Utnapishtim to find a plant at the bottom of the sea, but he loses it to a serpent before he can use it himself. This legend is an archaic explanation for snakes shedding their skin, seen as mystical rejuvenation.

Japan
In the 8th century AD Man'yōshū, 'waters of rejuvenation' (変若水, ochimizu) are said to be in the possession of the moon god Tsukuyomi. Similarities have been noted with a folktale from the Ryukyu Islands, in which the moon god decides to give man the water of life (Miyako: sïlimizï), and serpents the water of death (sïnimizï). However, the person entrusted with carrying the pails down to Earth gets tired and takes a break, and a serpent bathes in the water of life, rendering it unusable. This is said to be why serpents can rejuvenate themselves each year by shedding their skin while men are doomed to die.[8][9]
